Clark-Shawnee Music Teacher Honored

Ms. Lydia Smith-Lockwood, Shawnee High School’s director of choral and orchestral music, is the recipient of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra’s sixth annual Music Educator of the Year Award.

"Ms. Smith-Lockwood is a dedicated and talented music educator and we are proud to have a performer and teacher of her caliber in our district," said Superintendent Mr. Gregg Morris. "She utilizes her considerable talent not only to help our Shawnee singers sharpen their own musical talents, but also to advocate for the importance of high-quality fine arts programs, like the excellent music department at Clark-Shawnee schools."

Ms. Smith-Lockwood received the award during the symphony's concert at the Clark State Performing Arts Center on Saturday, Feb. 28.
