The Clark-Shawnee Local School District is proud to announce that the district’s breakfast program has been selected as the School Breakfast Program of the Year by the Children’s Hunger Alliance.
The program was recognized at the Alliance’s 22nd Annual Menu of Hope luncheon this year.
“Research shows us that when kids come to school hungry, they are distracted from learning and unable to focus on school,” said Assistant Superintendent Mr. Brian Kuhn. “Clark-Shawnee is committed to doing all we can to support our kids in making the most of the outstanding education offered in this district, and offering a breakfast program to help students start each morning right is just one way we work toward that goal.”
The award is given out annually to recognize just a few of the outstanding programs that Children’s Hunger Alliance works with to fight childhood hunger in Ohio by providing children access to healthy food, nutrition education and physical activity.
“We want to congratulate our Food Service Director, Mr. Josh Ashley, and all of the employees who work in our cafeterias each day to provide nutritious meals for Clark-Shawnee students to enjoy,” said Mr. Kuhn. “This award is a clear symbol that the hard work they put in is making a difference for our students.”
