Possum School and Reid School were recognized as Rising Stars of the 2014-2015 Breakfast All-Star Awards by the Ohio School Breakfast Challenge during the Ohio Schools Board Association 2015 Annual Capital Conference on Nov. 9-10.
The two Clark-Shawnee schools are among 170 honorees selected for this honor.
The Ohio School Breakfast Challenge, launched during the 2014-15 school year, challenged schools to increase their School Breakfast Program participation so that all students have the opportunity to start each day ready to learn.
“Research tells us that when students are hungry, they aren’t able to fully engage and do their best in the classroom,” said Clark-Shawnee Local Schools Superintendent Mr. Gregg Morris. “At Clark-Shawnee schools, we are committed to ensuring that our students benefit from the high-quality educational programs we offer. A robust nutrition program is part of that commitment and we are very pleased to have the efforts to increase participation in the Breakfast program at Possum and Reid recognized with this award.”
