Shawnee Student Takes Silver in Reining at World Championships

Congratulations to Shawnee Middle School's Sam Flarida, son of Michele and Shawn Flarida, who recently won a team silver medial in reining at the youth world championships.

Sam traveled to Switzerland recently as part of the Platinum Performance U.S. Junior Team for the 2017 SVAG FEI World Reining Championship, according to the Springfield News-Sun. 

As part of the U.S. Youth team, Sam won the silver medal, and he also placed 10th individually. Reining is a western riding competition in which the rider guides their horse through a series of maneuvers, including stops, spins and circles.
