Schools to Conduct Safety Drills November 7 & 8, 2019

At Clark-Shawnee Schools, the safety of our students and staff is our top priority. We believe that one of the best ways to keep our students and staff safe is to prepare for emergency situations. When we practice safety drills and evacuations, we are giving our students tools and knowledge they can use if they ever need it.

The State of Ohio, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Ohio Department of Education require safety drills to be completed on a regular basis. As part of our ongoing work with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, we have designed age-appropriate mandated drills that will be conducted in each building November 7-8, 2019. During the course of the drill, students will review and “practice” emergency techniques and evacuation, become educated on the topic of active shooter protocol, and have discussions with staff on the importance of this issue. Students will be given age-appropriate training on what steps to take should an intruder enter their classroom with dangerous intentions.
