Dear Clark-Shawnee Seniors and Families,

On behalf of everyone at Clark-Shawnee Schools, I want to acknowledge how proud we are of our Class of 2020 students and their accomplishments. It has been an honor to watch these students learn and grow together, and to be part of their lives. I know that we all wish we had been able to have a more traditional end to the school year, but we are proud of our students for the grace and maturity they have shown in these unconventional times.

We must continue to ensure the health and safety of our students, staff, and community as we celebrate the Class of 2020. Guidelines released from the Governor’s Office and the Ohio Department of Health have eliminated an in-person ceremony for the foreseeable future. It is the desire of the district’s Board of Education and Administrators to move forward in honoring our graduating class and celebrating their accomplishments. There will be an informational video for the senior class that will contain additional information for students and families related to graduation. The video and an important survey for seniors to complete will be e-mailed out on May 15, 2020.

June 11-13—Shawnee High School Class of 2020 Commencement Days

Senior students will register for an appointment time to receive their diploma and awards. Seniors should come dressed in their cap and gown. A registration link for appointment times will be sent out electronically to senior students in the coming weeks. Due to the construction taking place at Shawnee, there is no suitable space in the building for such an important event. The Class of 2020 Commencement Days will take place at Southgate Baptist Church located at 2111 South Center Blvd. Springfield, OH 45506.

Seniors may bring up to ten [10] guests with them to join school officials in witnessing and celebrating their graduation from Shawnee HS. All individuals must wear a face-covering. The graduate will be permitted to remove his/her face covering when receiving their diploma.

The Shawnee High School Commencement Exercises have always been a first-class event for our graduates and their families—this high standard will continue. We have contracted with Champion City Media to record, edit, and produce a professional video of our seniors graduating. This video will highlight our students and serve as a memento of this event that can be shared with friends and family. The video will include student speeches, the commencement address, and other special features. Additional information will be provided regarding the video presentation.

We will provide additional information to you in the coming weeks, including directions on how to schedule a graduation appointment.
