BOARD OF EDUCATION

The Clark-Shawnee Local School Board of Education conducts regular monthly meetings. Regular meetings are held at the location indicated on the meeting calendar.

The Board of Education welcomes public participation where guests are encouraged to express their views. Board policy limits remarks to three minutes. Guests must adhere to the guidelines for public participation as printed on the agenda.

Board Members

Mr. David DeHart

Mr. David G. DeHart, who holds a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Wright State University and is a licensed CPA, is a semi-retired Audit Principal from Duvall and Associates, Inc. Mr. DeHart has over 40 years of experience in the accounting field and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, Ohio Society of CPAs, Ohio School Boards Association, and Ohio Association of School Business Officials.

Mr. DeHart and his wife, Donna, have two daughters and five grandchildren. He is a member of the Springfield-Clark Career Technology Center (CTC) Board, the City of Springfield Tax Incentive Review Council, and Enterprise Zone Program.

Mr. DeHart is serving his fourth term, which expires on December 31, 2025.

Mr. Ben Galbreath

Mr. Ben Galbreath is a Partner at Wallace and Turner Insurance in Springfield, with more than 20 years of experience in personal, commercial, life and supplemental benefits insurance. A Kenton Ridge graduate, he holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Kent State University, where he lettered in Division I baseball and graduated as the Golden Flashes’ all-time leader in pitching appearances.

Mr. Galbreath is active in the community through Southgate Baptist Church and The Gathering in Springfield. In his free time, Mr. Galbreath enjoys coaching baseball and helping young athletes grow both on and off the field. Mr. Galbreath and his wife, Kelli, have three children who attend Clark-Shawnee Schools.

Mr. Galbreath is serving his second term, which expires on December 31, 2027.

Ms. Michelle Garrett

Ms. Michelle Garrett is the Employment Navigation Supervisor for the Montgomery County Board of Developmental Disabilities. She previously worked for Mental Health Services of Clark County. Ms. Garrett holds a bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation from Wright State University.
Ms. Garrett has two daughters who graduated from the Clark-Shawnee Local School District.

Ms. Garrett is serving her third term, which expires on December 31, 2025.

Dr. Susan Page

Title: Board Member

Dr. Susan Page holds a Doctorate Degree from Purdue University in Early English Drama Culminating in Shakespeare, a Master’s Degree from the University of Akron in Early English Drama, and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Akron in English. She is a retired College Professor with 16 years of teaching experience.

She is an advocate for music education, serving in leadership positions with the Springfield Youth Symphony Parent Board, and helping to start the K-12 String and High School Orchestra Program at Clark-Shawnee Local School. She is a member of the Modern Language Association, the Association for Career and Technical Education, the Business Professional Women’s Association, Zonta International, and the Ohio School Boards Association. She has served the community through a variety of Clark-Shawnee Boosters and organizations and is a staunch advocation for public education.

Dr. Page is serving her sixth term, which expires on December 31, 2027.

Mrs. Judith Pierce

Mrs. Judith L. Pierce is the Official Court Reporter for Clark County, Ohio, since 1980. She holds an Associate’s Degree in Court/Conference Reporting and Certificates of Registered Professional Reporter (225 wpm) and of Merit Reporter (260wpm) and has 47 years of experience in Court Reporting. She is a member of the Ohio Court Reporters Association and the National Court Reporters Association. She has served in various parents groups in the Clark-Shawnee district, including Reid Kindergarten Parents and the Athletic Boosters. She attended Reid School and then Shawnee High School, graduating in 1976.

Mrs. Pierce and her husband of 48 years, James, are the parents of three Shawnee graduates and have eight grandchildren.

Mrs. Pierce is serving her seventh term, which expires on December 31, 2025.
