Byanca Dubie, Dayton Daily News Athlete of the Week

Shawnee High School sophomore Byanca Dubie was named the Dayton Daily News Athlete of the Week for April 19, earning the honor through reader voting at Dayton Daily News.

“It means a lot to me,” Dubie said. “I'm very grateful for everyone that voted for me, especially my family and friends and the team.”

The Shawnee Braves Softball team is 17-1 through Thursday’s games and was recently ranked No. 1 in the state in the Ohio High School Softball Coaches Poll released Monday, April 20. It’s the first time in school history the Braves have stood atop the state poll.

“We've all been working as a team,” she said. “We've all been doing really well this season. I think this year we're really working hard together.”
