Clark County Commissioners declare June 17, 2025, as School Resource Officer Day

Clark County Commissioners declare June 17, 2025, as School Resource Officer Day

The Clark County Board of Commissioners officially recognized the School Resource Officers (SROs) during their meeting on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. In the special event, the Commissioners issued a proclamation declaring the day as School Resource Officer Day in Clark County, Ohio.

The event honored the dedication and service of SROs who work tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of students, staff, and schools throughout the county. Commissioners welcomed School Resource Officers and school administrators to the June 18th meeting to receive recognition in person. This is the second year a proclamation has been issued.

The Proclamation reads:

Whereas, the Board of Clark County Commissioners saw a need in the community for a law enforcement presence at local school districts; and

Whereas, the county partnered with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and other local school districts in 2018 to place deputies into school buildings; and

Whereas, the program has grown to 10 School Resource Officers working in 8 school districts throughout Clark County; and

Whereas, school resource officers serve not only as law enforcement officers, but also as educators, mentors, and trusted adults who foster positive relationships between students and law enforcement.

Now, therefore we, the Board of Clark County Commissioners do hereby proclaim June 18, 2025, as School Resource Officer Day in Clark County, Ohio.

Duly adopted this 18th day of June, 2025.

Clark-Shawnee Local School District thanks School Resource Officer Deputy Brad Armstrong for his positive impact on the district and his service to the Clark-Shawnee community.

Superintendent Brian Kuhn shared the following remarks at the event.

“Lane, Eubanks, Cultice, and Pacine - these outstanding Sheriff’s Office Employees have served as either Educational Support Officers or School Resource Officers during their tenure with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office. In their respective roles, they have served and protected the students and staff of Clark-Shawnee Local Schools. Deputy Brad Armstrong, Clark-Shawnee SRO, now joins this honor roll as yet another outstanding Deputy Sheriff who works diligently to protect our school community.

Although Deputy Armstrong has only been in this role since July of 2024, he has become an integral part of the daily operations at Clark-Shawnee. Deputy Armstrong is present when he is within our schools - he actively engages with students, employees, and community members.  If a visitor were to come to either of our school buildings and observe Deputy Armstrong, I would venture to say they would assume he has been our SRO for several years based on his connections with students, camaraderie with staff, and understanding of the job duties both articulated and the ones that catch us off guard.

We are looking forward to yet another year with Deputy Armstrong, who will also be serving as a Varsity Football Assistant Coach. What an opportunity to connect with and impact the impressionable lives of young students.

On behalf of the Clark-Shawnee Board of Education, our administration, teachers, support staff, students, and community, we extend our sincere appreciation to Deputy Armstrong for all that he does. We also thank the Clark County Commissioners and the Clark County Sheriff’s Office for investing in the SRO program because it makes a tangible difference in all our schools.”
