Clark-Shawnee Welcomes New Middle School Principal
Clark-Shawnee Local School District welcomes Mr. Devin Spitzer as the new Middle School Principal of grades seven and eight at Shawnee Middle School beginning this fall. The Clark-Shawnee Board of Education approved the recommendation to hire Spitzer at their June 10, 2024 board meeting.
Spitzer is a familiar face to the Clark-Shawnee community and brings 28 years of educational experience to the position.
“Shawnee Middle School has grown under the leadership of Mr. Adam Billet and the Middle School Team is excited for Mr. Spitzer to take the helm,” commented Superintendent Brian Kuhn. “Mr. Devin Spitzer will undoubtedly continue the traditions of academic excellence, student support, and staff development that are foundational to our Middle School program and the Clark-Shawnee District as a whole.”
With nearly three decades of dedicated service in the field of education, Spitzer brings a wealth of knowledge, expertise, and a passion for student success. He began his educational career in 1996 at the Catholic Diocese of Columbus where he served for six years before transitioning to Springfield City School District in 2002. Joining Clark-Shawnee Local Schools in 2003, Spitzer has taught social studies in the district for 21 years.
Throughout his tenure as a teacher, Spitzer collaborated with administrators in his roles as Social Studies Department Head and Lead Teacher. He has held several additional positions in the Athletic Department including Head Softball Coach and Assistant Varsity Football Coach.
"For the past 21 years, it has been a privilege to teach and coach at Shawnee High School,” said Mr. Devin Spitzer. “While I will miss the daily classroom interactions and time spent on the athletic fields, I am also deeply humbled and thrilled to transition into the role of principal at Shawnee Middle School. I look forward to leading our exceptional staff and outstanding students and continuing the legacy of excellence that defines our school."
Spitzer earned a Bachelors in History from Wittenberg University and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Dayton.
He was selected for the position by an interviewing committee that included administrators and teachers. Spitzer will fill the position vacated by Mr. Adam Billet, who has accepted the Assistant Superintendent position at Clark-Shawnee Local School District.
