National Honors Society Taps New Members
On Friday, October 3rd, the Clark-Shawnee Chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) welcomed 10 students through a cherished tradition known as “tapping.” These 10 students were selected after a rigorous process that reflects the core values of NHS: scholarship, leadership, service, and character.
To be eligible, students must earn a 3.5 GPA after the third quarter of their sophomore or junior year. Qualified students are invited to apply, and applications are carefully reviewed by a faculty committee, with names kept anonymous, to select those who truly embody the values of NHS.
The exciting moment comes the following academic year during a beloved tradition, “tapping”. Current NHS members walk through the school carrying yellow carnations - one of the colors of NHS - and “tap” the new inductees, presenting the flowers as a joyful invitation to join.
It is a moment of surprise, celebration, and recognition of all their hard work. We are beyond excited to welcome these outstanding students into NHS as leaders and role models in our school!
The 2025 NHS induction will be held on October 29, 2025, at 7:00 PM.
