Safety Grants Provide Security and Safety Features
The Clark-Shawnee Local School District recently received two safety grants from the State of Ohio, the Formula Based Grant and the Project Based Safety Grant. Both grants provided essential funding to improve the security and safety features across current facilities.
These dollars, awarded from the State of Ohio, could only be used for tools, technologies, training, and equipment designed to improve crisis response and ongoing security for the school district.
The funds from the Formula Based Grant were used to install card readers that allow First Responders to access facilities using their unique identification cards.
The Project Based Grant was used to install security film on all external doors and windows of Shawnee Middle and High School and Shawnee Elementary. The main entrances of both buildings, along with the athletic entrance of the middle and high school, are equipped with an additional layer that blocks visibility from the outside in, while maintaining clear visibility from the inside out.
Both projects were completed using the funds awarded by the two safety grants. No general fund, local tax dollars were used for these projects.
